Well, playing my Sin i've been virtually ignored for any/all chances at grouping... but when i do, there's never an issue. I'll agree with sentiments on page two i believe - Sins aren't an unpopular class by any means, but they're generally played by blithering idiots or children (or both). Well played Sins are corralled into a few very, very viable builds for PvE, and can dish out some ridiculous DD and AoE damage depending on situation.
If anyone is wondering, i run my Sin as a Blossom build... because, hell, it's amazing? If the mission is going to ruin my night as melee, then Crit Barrage is right around the corner as well.
But, realistic impressions... going with Mesmer as being the most underutilized and underplayed class in PvE.
Maybe Gaile Grey can finagle some stats from ArenaNet?

Perhaps they meant unpopular, as in people tend to avoid accepting them in to parties. I know I do. They can be great in the right hands, but as has been pointed out before, the majority of players have no idea how to use them correctly.
And whoever said female monks are the least played class? Have you ever played the game? I'd say they're second only to Male warriors.

Hence why I said awhile ago.
It's kind of funny, my main is a Mesmer, and my other mains are an Assassin and Paragon.

Paragons and mesmers are the most uncommon. That doesn't change the fact that Paragons are easily the strongest class overall. Their effectiveness only grows exponentially in numbers.
And the weird thing is that Warriors are pretty popular, but nearly every other class in the game can provide more to a team than a warrior. A tank is almost useless considering you can work your team around that quite easily. Warriors are for teams who aren't good enough to do it otherwise. Moreso assurance, rather than effectiveness.
I say Ritualists are the least popular. Outside of the first half of Cantha, I never see any rits.

I think tanks keep your party organized. If you don't have a tank, all the enemies are all over the place, attacking everyone, and it's a nightmare for monks.

If you have a Paragon, then it doesn't matter much what the enemy is doing, and your warriors can auto-crit everything while your monks are bored with little to do but toss a heal, prot, or hex/condition removal every now and again. This is PVE, naturally. Since you used the word, "tank," I am assuming that is what you mean.
Of course, as far as this thread and this game are concerned, Paragon is somehow not a popular class. Maybe PuGs are bad?

all classes are good, but the people who play them make them look bad, Necros= MM for most, sin= teleport in and die, but they are way more than that, every class is good... mes can probably own anyone 1v1, paragon can do a lot of DpS, rit can support like none other with spirits

IMO Mesmers are unpopular and terribly boring.
Not saying there bad though, still good characters fighting wise.

PvE = Mesmer, the only thing they're good at is the very few farming builds made for them, and their conjure phantasm totally owns in pre-searing.
PvP = hmm tough one, probably Para (not counting GvG) or Necro
BTW - I don't know why Paragons are not played in PvE much, they're probably the 1 or 2best toons to play in PvE

Then let us hope they never become a popular class!
...Because if they do...it could mean the end of Tyria as we know it!

As a matter of fact, I don't. Because para as support is SO MUCH better than para as a main ranged unit.

Well if you mix the 2 you'll be surprised how much more you help your party then if you went pure support.

But my party WANT me to go just support. But it distracts me when i go ranged, as sometimes you draw the enemy to you. I like just spamming chants and see all my enemies gets set of fire/all my teammates gets 50% less damage etc.
Throwing spears gets boring after a while

Well that's a valid argument, you should be able to play the way you want too so kudos. You said you like spamming chants and shouts but then you said before that spamming shouts and chants are boring so are you saying you have fun being boring? lol
